Erection problems are uncommon
This is untrue – most men simply do not talk about it. A survey sponsored by the pharmaceutical company Pharmacia & Upjohn found that more than 1 in 4 of the UK male population over the age of 16 has experienced erectile disorder to some degree. Of these, over half experienced the problem as one-off incidents and a quarter suffered erectile disorder most or all of the time. There are probably 20 million men with erection problems in the USA, and 2–3 million in the UK.
Erection problems are usually psychological
This is an old-fashioned view; impotence is most commonly due to a physical cause.
Testosterone injections/patches are a good cure for erection problems
Testosterone is of use only in the uncommon situation the man has a proven shortage of testosterone.
Viagra-type drugs don't work for everyone
These drugs are successful in only 50–80% of cases.
Erectile failure (also called impotence or erectile dysfunction) means that you cannot achieve or maintain an erection of the penis sufficient for sexual intercourse. Sex drive is often normal. Impotence can occur at any age, but becomes more common with increasing age. Because the average age of the population is getting older, experts predict that by the year 2010 almost half the men in the UK will have erection problems. But impotence is not inevitable with ageing – 40% of 90-year-old men are able to have a normal erection.

hi i am having trouble getting an erection.i tried viagra one 100g after 30min nothing so i tried two 5g calis pills . tried for about two hours to have an erection .i have had blood tests prostate ect.all supposed to be ok. have been drinking about 10 glasses of beer a day for about 12mths.

I rarely maintain an erection for more than 10 minutes.. But for the most part my penis is semi erect. If I drink a few coffees, I tend to frequent the toilet 3 times, while others go only once. I had my testosterone levels checked, and I'm ok.. I'm getting frustrated .

Last night I was with a girl and we were doing a lot of foreplay. The foreplay lasted about an hour. I had an erection the whole time but then we went to go have sex. I have also found that having a high protein diet really helps, on the days i have alot of soya my erection is great.

Just wanted to say i tried Euramin M direct for 3 months and this has worked for me, its natural so has no side effects. Just Currently researching how long you need to take it for and if you need to continue it after the 3 months.

I have to take Cialis and find it helps with erections but i cant maintain one if there is no physical touching or stimulation. As soon as this stops it goes soft in 60 seconds. But with out the pill im lucky to even get a slight erection. Certainly not enough to have sex. I feel that i suffer from low testosterone . Ive been tested and was on the low side of normal. One doctor said that it was totaly fine and no prblem, and another said it was low and needs a helping hand. I was put on testosterone patches , but they didnt work as they would fall off, so was put on pills. These didnt seem to have much affect and teh docotr stopped the medication after a month. I feel that this was too soon and may have benifitted from longer duration of medication and even trying another method such as injections. Ive also read that the body will shut down its own production and you need to take a pill to stop the testicles shrinking, and also teh body can change unwanted testorone in to teh female hormoan. Again a pill is needed to stop this conversion process. My doctor did not give me any of the other treatments with the testosterone therapy. Tried talking to the doctor but hes not interested in trying with injections. so i have to live with being physicly weak. unable to put on muscel, feeling tired all the time little or no sex drive and so on.

Hello I sometimes have an erection, but mostly when I masturbate. During sex it comes up rarely and then goes flat very quickly, even before I attempted to penetrate. My sex life has always been below average , for the last 12 years of our marriage, but it was still OK. Penis seems different after facet joint rhizotomy in neck under general anasthetics. It seems to have shrunked and shriveled up and erections seems more difficult to obtain.

I’m male, 31Y, for the last two years I was suffering from erectile dysfunction and I was using Viagra or Cialis without doctor consultation. During that time I was on non-regular relationships (once or twice monthly). I’m planning for my marriage on the next month and I have visited Impotence specialist and he checked sugar, testosterone and pressure and all were normal, He suggested the penile Doppler test at his clinic. After injecting my penis with the medication and after examination he told me that blood vessels and blood flow is normal and my case may be due to stress or anxiety. he told me to call him after 3 hours in case of the erection continued, I called him after 3 hours and he advised me to do some heavy exercises and sleep for 3 hours and call him if the same continued, i called him after another 3 hours and he advised me to clime staircase and to do some heavy exercise again which did not help, finally he told me to go back to his clinic and he done some procedure to remove the blood from my penis, eventually after around 8 ½ hours of erection. This incident happened aprox 20 days back and from that day onward I did not have any erection which is not normal for me and I’m so afraid because my marriage is after month. what can I do?

My boyfriend has had erectile disfunction since I met him. I was his first sexual partner (he was 28) and it had a lot to do with nerves at first as he couldnt achieve one AT ALL. Now he cant achieve about 80% of an erection but nothing else (after lots of therapy and trying quite a few different things). The therapist has kind of laid it on the table and said this is it and we will have to be content with our lot... I dont know if I can face the rest of my life without having proper sex. He is a great guy - I love him, find him attractive and he would be a great father one day. I just wanted to say that I have had erectile difficulties since the age of 21. I always found it difficult to stay hard whilst having sex. Always been a problem. Before Christmas, I found it really difficult to get an erection at all, even when I masturbated. I decided to do something about it an had a does of Viagra tablets, but continued to research and found that Euramin amino acid tablets were effective and natural. I took these for 3 months and now I can get an erection again and it is beginning to maintain it for longer. I will keep you posted on my progress guys..

I read that as you get older you loose your erectile potential but 40% of 90 year olds can still perform. Alas I seem to fall into the 60 % who cant and given the fact I am a mere 69 this sucks. I have been to clinics doctors and phyco theripists taken most of the brands of tablets and injections, but all seem to fail. On my last visit to the doctor i was told to just forget it and have a loving relaitionship!!!! Well i thought sex formed part of a relaitionshiop or have i had that wrong for the last years of my adult life. In this country ( uk ) the medical profesion seem to be frightened to even talk about the problem unless they are very expencive private practioners making a large income, often with unsatisfactory results, from what is a very upsetting situation that leads to dispare and a very undervalued quality of life.

Does anyone actually answer any of these questions? I have read all the comments and found about 10 or so with young guys like me with the same problem. But no answers!!! I am losing my mind and seem to be getting into a depression mode about my erection, or lack of should I say. When masturbating or in the midst of foreplay, there is never a problem. But just before intercourse, my erection loses its strength and it goes flaccid. I don't know if it has become a psychological problem, or is there a health issue involved. Anybody tried amino acid supplements? Euramin M Direct has sorted my erection problems and I didn't get side-effects as they are natural. I thought this'd be worth writing as I don't think much information exists on amino acids and erection difficulties. I only found out my chance. You do have to invest, but it was worth it in my case. I thought I was going to lose my wife, even though she used to try to reassure me that she'd stay nomatter what. I can totally relate to what some of you have written. Maybe this will help someone.

I have never had issues with detection before. I recently changed my blood pressure meds and begginibg to wonder if it may cause the problem. I am also taking a more strong pain medication oxycodone as well. I am not use to this problem. Is there any advice? My wife has a lower sex drive due to early hysterectomy. Any advice?

I am 28 year old male and think i have ED? I get arroused but am unable to sustain it. When the time comes for intercource I get flacid and am embarassed. I am 43 years of Male, and Diabetic for almost 10 years. I was having normal married life for almost 18 years. Recently I started the Medicanes to control the Diabetes, since then I am having Problem of Eraction During the Sexual Relations. What may be the cause behind this Problem ? Kindly Advice.

hi, they say a person does not know what he/she has until it is gone. I have a problem and keeping it a secret is killing me. first i have a history of masturbating excessively. i had a very good erection until this year, i noticed that at the early onset of the problem my erection started to disappear. normally when i am with a woman i have erection that were wonderful, but early before the main dysfunction i notice it was hard for me to get the erection i usually got when with a woman. I forced my self without the use of any stimulant to get one and everything was then ok i continued getting an erection. i then noticed that my sperm were usually not motile. it was about 7 months back that i had the real problem, while having sex doggy style the girl came forcfully back causing pain to my penis and i felt a sharp pain at the back close to my sacrum. i stayed for day without getting na erection, then i started to my masturbate frequently every day because it was the only thing that kept me sane. i am having a real problem dealing with it. this has led to venous congestion and erection is only with masturbation even though i get weak erections from the use of viagra

I am a 23 yr old male who suffers problems with my erection. I do get erections but when i need to have sexual intercourse with a female on most occassions i fail to get erect. This happens me on most occassions. I would be erect but when i go about inserting my penis inside her im not hard enough. This has happened me on several occassions. I do not have a regular sexual partner. most of these situations have been one night stands. Im very embarassed about this situation and dont feel i can work up the courage to speak to my GP about my situation.

I was a late comer to the world of sex but during my first few times I had trouble getting hard. I'm not sure if it was nerves or just that I had been drinking but I am worried it may happen again. Not taking any alcohol would be an unrealsitic option

hi, i am very worried about a small roblem i have regarding recent routine explorotory surgery on my right testicle as there was speculation that it was twisted. the surgery showed that my testicle was not twisted but i had a bruising of the epididimus and there was a blood clot inside my scrotum. i had surgery friday night (11th sept 2009) and am still recovering, however i cannot get a full erection and sustain it. is this just because of my recent surgery and is temporary or will this become an underlying problem? thanks alot for your time lewis
