    Bed-wetting in teenagers and adults

Wetting the bed at night (the medical term is enuresis) is more common in adults than you might think. It affects about one person in every hundred, mainly men. More than 100 000 teenagers in the UK wet the bed – some only occasionally, while others may never have experienced a dry night. Many feel so embarrassed that they hide it from their families and can find it a barrier to forming close relationships. It can be especially difficult when staying away from home. If you also have difficulty holding your urine during the day, look at the section on urinary incontinence.

As an MS sufferer bed wetting has been a way life for 15 years. I get over it by wearing adult napies sounds OTT but it does give you a good nights sleep and stops the wife complaining about washing sheets.

I am 22 years old. I am also 8 weeks pregnant. I have not wet thte bed since I was a child and in January I woke up to find myself urinating on myself. At the time I chalked it up to a UTI...Then recently I was in bed with my husband and I was dreaming that I was using the bathroom and woke up to find myself urinating again. My husband said it was just because I was pregnant. Does this happen while your pregnant?

I am 21 and I have not wet the bed since I was a little kid. Over Christmas we stayed with my husband and I stayed with my parents. On night I ended up wetting the bed. Of course I had to tell my mom about it. That was embarrassing! She said I was just stressed because the day before we had gotten into a huge fight with my grand mother-in-law. On that occasion there was no dream. I just woke up wet. Since then I have had problems. there have been many nights that I wake up peeing. I usually stop myself before it's enough to get on the bet though. Two night ago I had a dream I was using the toilet and that time I lost it all. I feel so bad. what do I do?

I haven't wet the bed for years but then a couple of nights ago I did, luckily I managed to hide it from my husband. I thought that it was extremely weird and just a one off but then I woke up this morning to find that I'd done it again! I am going to be so nervous about going to sleep tonight! I really hope it doesn't continue, I feel so low today.

I am 46 and still wet my bed most nights I have always been a bedwetter. These days or should I say nights I wear terry nappies and plastic pants. I will probably always wet the bed but I can think of far worse things.
